When you visit where the world's top entertainers live, work, and play, you're in the perfect spot to catch some fantastic live shows. Did we mention every type of performer is here? That means you can see a comedy show, a magic show, a Broadway performance, and a music concert all in the same week. This is also one of the only places in the world to watch a live television show. Wondering where to start? Check out this rundown of live shows in Hollywood you can catch during your upcoming visit!

The Laugh Factory

Laugh Factory

The Laugh Factory is Hollywood's iconic comedy club. In addition to hosting the biggest comedians of the moment, the Laugh Factory's stage is where legends like Jerry Seinfeld, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, David Letterman, Amy Poehler, Rodney Dangerfield, Steve Martin, Chris Rock, and Sarah Silverman have sharpened their comedic skills. With all-star comedians featured every night, you need to get tickets while you're in Los Angeles if you're a comedy fan.

Black Rabbit Rose Magic Show

Experience one of the most enchanted and mysterious 21-and-up live shows in Hollywood at Black Rabbit. Once you step into this low-lit, velvety venue, you'll be under the command of magicians performing mystical feats and clever sleight of hand. Ticketed shows here run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Guests can also extend the magic by booking a pre-show or post-show dinner reservation at the venue's lounge. Late-night bottle service at the lounge runs from Tuesday through Saturday. Do dress to impress, whether you're coming for dinner, a show, or both!

Broadway show

Broadway in Hollywood

Broadway in Hollywood is a venue located on Hollywood Boulevard that brings all of the beloved performances from New York's Broadway to the West Coast! Of course, you'll need to start planning by checking out the venue's box office to see what's scheduled for the marquee while you're in town. Highly anticipated runs of "Les Misérables" and "The Book of Mormon" are currently bookable.

Live TV filming

Want to see the taping of a live show in Hollywood? It's more than possible. Many talk shows, game shows, and sitcoms actively seek out people to be in their live studio audiences. You can generally submit a ticket request on a show's website or its parent studio. While filming times and lottery systems for obtaining tickets vary by studio, filming takes place at some capacity all year in Los Angeles. Here's a list of popular shows that currently film before live studio audiences in the Hollywood area:

  • "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
  • "The Masked Singer"
  • "The Voice"
  • "Jeopardy!"
  • "Wheel of Fortune"
  • "The Price Is Right"
  • "America's Got Talent"

Don't forget that Hollywood is also where many popular shows from Food Network, HGTV, and other cable stations are filmed. Tickets to television shows filmed in Los Angeles are almost always free. However, you may have to book weeks or months in advance.

Catalina Jazz Club

Catalina Jazz Club

The Catalina Jazz Club on Sunset Boulevard needs no introduction for lovers of jazz and jazz culture. Founded in 1986, the club has been honored by the California Jazz Foundation, the Los Angeles Jazz Society, and the Los Angeles City Council. Over the decades, the stage at Catalina has been graced by Buddy Collette, Dizzy Gillespie, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kenny Burrell, and many more. If you'd like to see a show, tickets for one of the many weekly dinner performances are necessary.
